Halloween Fun

Still tweaking my Halloween decorations. I found some great spooky mice to hang from a wrought iron branch in my dining room. Now I need to find something for inside the bird cage-maybe a small cat...

I bought a hand which is hanging on the wall next to the phone. I can't decide if I want to leave an apple in the hand or hang something from it. I always keep my options open...change is fun!
I also started a new collection-glass candies. Just what I need-a new collection! I also ordered a chocolate mouse...so adorable! This company makes glass candies for every holiday~oh oh!

Just thought I would share what has been going on here. I am still worn out from my weekend at a mouse event. Having fun is hard work....Having a house guest for a week is also tough on me. I didn't have my quiet time. Shopping is fun but exhausting-but I love it! Here I am complaining when I love my life. I am a lucky person!
Leaving for Ghoultide Gathering Friday! My sister is going with me. Fun times ahead!

Wee Forest Folk Folktoberfest 2010

Well, the hard part of this mouse event is over...and I am relieved. My display was a hit-so I won but I was the only entry. I decorated a table today with a still and hide out for The Purple Gang. I had much fun with this. There were three tables decorated and all of us were winners. I love that~! Many contests and games yet to do and then wrap up tomorrow morning. Mom is here with me. She came today and it is so good to have her with me!

I plan to take this week easy and rest up!

Pumpkins!

Love the stacking pumpkins~and the witch is great, warts and all. We visited Warmiers Farm (in Auburn, MI) Thursday on the way to Clare for the mouse event (Folktoberfest). They have a large barn of great stuff, too! Just wonderful place to find pumpkins and Halloween as well as any holiday decorations.
Having a wonderful time...wish more mousers could have made the trip. Small group this year. Fun none the less!

Sneak Peek....

Not quite done but here is a peek at my display for Wee Forest Folk 'Folktoberfest'. The theme centers around gangsters-The Purple Gang in particular since they once hid out at the hotel where the event is taking place (the Doherty in Clare, MI). The special WFF for the event are based on the pieces that I put inside these toy safes. I will post a picture when I return home of the display with the light on-I still have to wire that. But I am pleased with my efforts. I was advised not to glue the room boxes in the safes since they are antique...so I was careful but I don't think these will ever go back to being a working toy safe ever again. I already had an offer to sell one sight unseen (what a compliment!) but I think I will hang on to this fun display. I have parted with too many of my special displays....

The Purple Gang now has a hideout...

Just a few tiny details and this display is done. The mice now have a hideout with a still.

When I googled 'The Purple Gang', I found out that they would take a boat to Canada to pick up their illicit goods, then head back to Detroit, towing an extra boat behind them with the stuff. If they were chased by the police, they would leave the boat and motor on to safety. I don't think the Wee Forest Folk creators would approve of guns with their beloved mice but The Purple Gang sure used them. I still have to add their instruments of torture (heheheh).
Always fun to create!

Progress!

Working hard trying to get ready for Wee Forest Folk's Folktoberfest in one week. I plan to finish a display as well as a display to decorate a table. Not real pleased with the mouse I dressed. It turns out he was molded right into his base so there was no way to release him. So I cut and clipped and mangled the poor little guy. He was tortured way too much with two broken legs, broken fingers and arm as well as an ear. I finally gave up on getting too detailed and just painted what was left the same color as his mousie skin. If you don't look too closely, he looks OK with his purple boxers and bow tie and suit coat. He is passed out near the still...I think he drank himself silly! The cop checked to make sure he was still breathing...
Back to work!

Love these candles!

So I had to go back to a favorite candy store (Koeze's)~the buyer sure knows how to stock great Halloween things! I saw these candles last week and stopped today, debating whether to spend the money. I am so happy I did! They weren't lit in the store so when I added batteries at home, I was amazed! Hard to see in the picture but the lights flicker and the silhouettes are adorable! I am so pleased with them! Now next week, will I return for another 'gotta have it'? Stay tuned...

Poor little mouse....

So I am finally working on my displays for the next mouse event. Only two weeks away!
Today I worked on one poor little mouse. I had hopes to remove him from his base but it turns out he is part of the base...so I have to hack and chisel him out. He lost a limb or two (which I glued back on) so think he will be OK. Also showing the items I will be using for one display...wonder if anyone can figure out what it will all turn out to be...LOL
I do have fun!
